There are so many issues in the world we are concerned with and anxious about. There are so many ways we want to be engaged. In truth, whether we are working on the front lines of political and climate activism or at home offering guidance to our children, we are making an important contribution to the future of our world, right here and now.

Our ability to express compassionate action depends on our inner stability, freedom and happiness. These capacities are a precious resource that needs nourishment, cultivation, and protection.

On this retreat we will practice the essential qualities of an Awakened Life. We will strengthen and invigorate ourselves with mindfulness in each activity. With conscious breathing, sitting and walking meditations, mindful eating, singing, deep relaxation and joyful togetherness we will build a strong collective concentration. We will learn to touch and take nourishment from the conditions of happiness that are present in our lives. We will embrace, understand, and begin to transform our suffering and the suffering of our society from a place of calm and clarity within.

As we explore our theme through Dharma teachings, deep listening, care-filled discussions and personal reflections, our retreat will provide the support we need to care for ourselves, our families, and our Earth.
